US ARMY AIRBORNE SCHOOL
27-10-2009
Members of Pathfinder Ireland jumped during October onto the DZ of the 507 Parachute Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia, USA.
The two members who jumped are also members of the Liberty Jump Team. This jump and associated events were organised by the Liberty Jump Team.
The jump was from a C-47 Dakota onto the famous Fryar Drop Zone. This drop zone has been the training DZ of the US Army Airborne School for almost seventy years.
The two members who jumped are also members of the Liberty Jump Team. The jump was part of the reunion held for World War 2 veterans of the 507 Parachute Infantry Regiment who jumped in Normandy and Wesel, Germany.
After the LJT drop the students of the airborne school dropped from a C-130. On the Saturday 392 students of the school received their parachute wings.
During the week we were given a thorough tour of the facilities including learning some better packing techniques in the Rigger's workshop.
We would like to thank the Liberty Jump Team and the 507 Parachute Infantry Regiment for making this great experience possible.
